Course description:

“Wine Fundamentals for Enthusiasts” is a special course designed for those who enjoy drinking wine and curious to find out what makes it so unique. It consists of 2 sessions: 3-hour lecture including a tasting of 6 wines for each session.

During the first lecture, the participants will discover what wine is, the peculiarities of red, white, rose and sparkling wine production, grape varieties used for different styles of wines in different regions as well as wine geography (Old World, New World, and Historic World) and overview of region-based labeling regulations.

The second lecture covers the aspects of wine tasting, with nuances of sensory evaluation, as well as wine service, i.e. specific temperatures for different wines, glasses used for different styles and how they can affect the aromatic profile of the wine.

The instruction language is English.

The course is taught by Artem Parseghyan, a graduate of SupAgro Montpellier, France and Geisenheim University, Germany. Mr. Parseghyan has ample experience in working at different wineries in Germany, Portugal and Armenia. The head winemaker at Trinity Canyon Vineyards, the first Armenian judge at Mundus Vini wine competition.
