Job Description:
ICARE Foundation (Foundation) is looking for an experienced proactive Surveying Expert to support the implementation of the Women of Armenia Growing Resilience in Agribusiness (AgriWoW) Project. AgriWoW is implemented in partnership with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH within the framework of the Women Empowerment for Wellbeing (WoW) project financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the Surveying Expert will be responsible for conducting a comprehensive baseline and needs assessment among displaced, vulnerable, and women-led agribusinesses across Armenia. The Surveying Expert will ensure high-quality quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis, and reporting, resulting in a consolidated Capacity Needs Assessment (CNA) report requested by the project.

Job responsibilities:

• Lead the design and implementation of the socio-economic and capacity needs assessment among displaced, marginalized, low-income, and women-led agribusinesses across Armenia.
• Develop survey tools (questionnaires, interview guides) ensuring gender-sensitive, inclusive, and climate-smart approaches.
• Prepare a sampling strategy covering displaced women from Nagorno Karabakh, single mothers, women with disabilities, and women from low-income households.
• Conduct field data collection, including surveys, key informant interviews, and focus group discussions, ensuring participation from at least 50 women-led agribusinesses.
• Manage data quality through validation checks, field supervision, and digital data-collection tools.
• Review and integrate existing studies from other organizations to ensure complementarity and avoid duplication.
• Analyze quantitative and qualitative data related to economic status, market access, value chain opportunities, climate-smart practices, and capacity gaps.
• Produce the Consolidated CNA Report, including:
  • socio-economic findings and market insights;
  • annexed list of interviewed women entrepreneurs, containing data about the baseline conditions of those people interviewed;
  • recommendations for tailored capacity-building and demonstration measures;
  • recommendations for business development of the identified women-led agribusinesses.
• Present findings during stakeholder validation meetings and support refinement of project interventions.
• Collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure alignment with logframe indicators and beneficiary selection criteria.

Required qualifications:

 

• Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Economics, Statistics, Social Sciences, Agricultural Development, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in conducting socio-economic surveys, needs assessments, or market assessments, preferably in internationally funded development projects, especially GIZ funded projects.
• Experience working with displaced populations, women’s economic empowerment programs, or rural/agricultural development initiatives.
• Strong analytical skills in quantitative and qualitative data interpretation.
• Proven experience with digital survey tools.
• Excellent communication and field facilitation skills, including with vulnerable groups.
• Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Fluency in Armenian; working knowledge of English.
• Proficiency in MS Office; experience with data-analysis software is an asset.

Salary:
Commensurate with experience.
