Job Description:
ICARE Foundation (Foundation) is looking for an experienced proactive Marketing Expert to support the implementation of the Women of Armenia Growing Resilience in Agribusiness (AgriWoW) Project. AgriWoW is implemented in partnership with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH within the framework of the Women Empowerment for Wellbeing (WoW) project is financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, and cooperation with the project Field Coordinator and Surveying Expert the Marketing Expert will lead the development of market-oriented strategies, visibility tools, branding guidance, and capacity-building materials that enhance the marketing and sales readiness of women-led agribusinesses. The Expert will support Output 2 (demonstration projects) and Output 3 (role-model and multiplier activities) by strengthening beneficiaries’ market positioning, storytelling, digital presence, and participation in fairs and sales channels. The Marketing Expert will ensure that all marketing interventions are gender-sensitive, climate-smart, aligned with the project’s logframe, and tailored to vulnerable groups including displaced women, single mothers, women with disabilities, and low-income households.
Job responsibilities:
- Lead the design and delivery of marketing capacity-building sessions for women-led agribusinesses, ensuring participants acquire practical skills that contribute to measurable improvements in sales channels, product quality, and income growth.
- Provide individual and group coaching to at least 50 women entrepreneurs and guide them in applying branding, pricing, storytelling, and customer segmentation techniques that enhance market readiness and income generation.
- Support beneficiaries in 7 demonstration projects to develop marketing materials and communication packages that highlight climate-smart and sustainable practices, enabling broader replication and visibility.
- Develop templates and guidelines for branding, packaging, labeling, and digital promotion tailored to vulnerable women entrepreneurs, helping them enter and compete in higher-value markets.
- Strengthen beneficiaries’ visibility by preparing promotional materials and coordinating their participation in fairs, farmers’ markets, exhibitions, and online platforms, contributing to new market access pathways.
- Mentor at least 10 selected female role models and empower them to effectively communicate their success stories, supporting peer-learning events and multiplier activities led by women service providers.
- Collaborate with the project team to produce knowledge products (videos, guidelines, case studies, success stories) documenting good practices from demonstration projects for dissemination and potential replication.
- Advise on digital marketing tools and low-cost promotional strategies suitable for displaced, low-income, and rural women, ensuring sustainability beyond the project period.
- Conduct rapid market assessments in targeted agro-value chains (processing, post-harvest, organic production, services), informing intervention design and feeding into evidence-based policy recommendation packages.
- Contribute to the documentation of market-related lessons learned and emerging opportunities to inform the cost-benefit analysis and policy recommendation package.
- Ensure all marketing outputs comply with donor visibility requirements and ICARE communication protocols, supporting transparent dissemination and policy engagement efforts.
- Support the Field Coordinator and Surveying Expert in integrating Capacity Needs Assessment findings into market approaches, ensuring tailored support that directly addresses identified gaps and constraints for vulnerable women.
- Assist the Project Manager in aligning marketing interventions with logframe indicators, contributing to measurable improvements in economic prospects, increased income levels, peer-learning reach, and visibility of climate-smart practices.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Agribusiness, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in marketing, branding, or market development (preferably within development projects, women’s empowerment programs, or agricultural value chains).
- Proven ability to design practical marketing tools for small businesses and rural entrepreneurs.
- Experience working with vulnerable groups (displaced women, women with disabilities, and low-income households).
- Demonstrated experience in digital marketing, social media strategy, content creation, and market-linkage facilitation.
- Understanding of climate-smart and sustainable agriculture as a selling point in branding.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to coach and mentor non-expert audiences.
- Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
- Fluency in Armenian; working knowledge of English.
- Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of graphic design or digital tools is an asset.
Salary:
Commensurate with experience.
