The ICARE Foundation proudly marked the culmination of its third wine guide training course with a spectacular final event. Guided by passion and dedication, our adept guides not only successfully conquered their exams but also showcased their creativity through compelling final presentations, featuring real tourism projects they personally developed.
A pivotal moment awaited them at the end of the program – the reception of well-deserved certificates recognizing them as qualified wine guides. This achievement signifies the completion of the unique GuideMASTER program, which has been shaping the future of wine tourism since its inception in 2020.
Behind this remarkable initiative is the support of the “Private Sector Development and VET in the South Caucasus” program by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) on behalf of the German government. What makes GuideMASTER stand out is its unparalleled depth, offering participants an immersive academic experience delving into the rich history of Armenian wine, as well as comprehensive insights into viticulture and winemaking.
The program’s distinction lies not only in theoretical teachings but also in hands-on lessons, specialized wine tastings within classrooms and esteemed wineries, and enlightening visits to historical and cultural landmarks across Armenia. GuideMASTER is more than a course; it’s an experiential journey that equips participants with a multifaceted understanding of the wine industry.
Anna, one of the participants of the third stage of the program, shared her impressions from the course:
“My initial opinion about the GuideMaster program was formed thanks to the stories of my friends who participated in the first and second rounds. I was looking forward to the third round with great enthusiasm, as I had not been able to attend the previous ones due to my busy schedule. Thanks to the program, I have acquired countless knowledge necessary for wine tourism, related to the historical nature, winemaking and viticulture. This will give me the opportunity to speak competently, with facts and, if necessary, during debates, to make knowledgeable arguments about Armenian winemaking. In addition, thanks to the program, we got to know a number of large and small wineries, their products and philosophy, which is also very important for writing tour packages in the future. Many of us from GuideMaster 3 have already started working with our partner tour operators and I am sure that there will be more competent and diverse wine tours in the future”.
Endorsed by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports as a modular program of additional education, GuideMASTER provides more than just knowledge; it grants a recognized certification, ensuring its graduates stand out in the field.
Heartfelt congratulations are extended to our graduates, whose newfound knowledge and honed skills are expected to contribute significantly to the sustainable development of wine tourism in Armenia. We express our gratitude to our esteemed partners – GIZ Armenia, RA Tourism Committee, Tourism Committee of RA Vine, and Wine Foundation of Armenia – whose collaborative efforts have played a crucial role in bringing GuideMASTER to fruition.
As we celebrate this momentous occasion, we look forward to witnessing the positive impact our graduates will make on the flourishing landscape of Armenian wine tourism. Cheers to a future filled with knowledge, passion, and memorable wine experiences!
